Why Niche Analysis Matters
Product research tells you about individual ASINs. Niche analysis tells you about the entire market — whether it's growing or shrinking, who owns it, and where the gaps are.
Key Metrics to Evaluate
Total Niche Revenue — Sum of monthly revenue across top 30–50 ASINs. Under $500K/mo often means insufficient demand.
Saturation Score — How many ASINs have 1,000+ reviews? High saturation (>60%) means slower ramp-up time.
Price Distribution — Are products clustered at $15–20? There may be opportunity to command premium pricing at $35+ with differentiation.
Review Velocity — Niches where top listings gain 50+ reviews/month are healthy. Flat or declining velocity signals a dying market.
BSR Trend (12 months) — Use niche.ltd's BSR history charts. A steadily improving BSR across multiple listings confirms genuine demand growth.
The 4 Types of Niches
| Type | Characteristics | Strategy |
|---|---|---|
| Growing | Rising revenue, new entrants succeeding | Launch aggressively |
| Stable | Steady BSR, mature market | Differentiate on quality/price |
| Declining | BSR worsening, promotions increasing | Avoid or exit |
| Seasonal | Sharp Q4 spikes | Pre-position inventory |
